Philip James Black. Private, U.S. Army Infantry 504th Parachute Infantry.
30 July 1925 - 19 March 1944.
Enlisted, paratroops, August 1942. Trained, Fort Benning, Georgia, and Camp Mackall, North Carolina. Fought in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Died of wounds received in battle at Carroceto, near Anzio. Educated in Hampden, Bangor and Brewer. His recreations were making model airplanes, swimming and skating. Good Conduct Medal. Purple Heart.
