Trained at Williams Field, Chandler, Arizona. Killed in action piloting a P-47 Thunderbolt fighter on combat mission over the Halmahera Islands, the Moluccas. Native of Caribou. Graduate of Ellsworth High School, 1941. Employed, before entering the Army, at the U.S. Government Printing Office. An enthusiastic horseman. Presidential Citation. Purple Heart.
