Description
Photographs of electricity poles taken by the Bangor Hydro Electric Company from June to October 1934. Communities included are Veazie, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Trenton, Eastport, Milford, Stanford, Lincoln, Brewer, Bluehill, Northeast Harbor, Hall's Quarry, East Franklin, Winter Harbor, Harrington, Cherrfield, Harrington, Addison, Jonesport, Columbia Falls, Burns Corner, Southwest Harbor, Orono, Charleston, Medway, Millinocket, Howland, and Bucksport. The photographs do not provide specific addresses; those familiar with these towns, though, will likely recognize past or current local landmarks, homes, and businesses. Cover image, for example, shows a power tower rising from the waters between Trenton and Mount Desert Island.
