Very busy street scene looking from State Street to the intersection of Harlow and Exchange Streets circa 1897 (according to back of photograph). 1897 seems likely correct given the landmarks known in this section of downtown Bangor at that time.

Bangor City Hall, the Hersey Building, stands in the center. This building was built in 1893-94. Most of the foreground buildings were destroyed in Bangor's April 30, 1911 fire.

The only business identifiable is J.H. Bacon Job Printing at 28 State Street. Owner John H. Bacon.
