Description
Back of photo indicates circa 1907. This is feasible, since the tallest building on the right side of street in photo, the Morse Oliver Building on the corner of Exchange and State, burned in the April 1911 fire. Also, the businesses listed below appear in the 1907 Bangor city directory.
Businesses include:
John C. Boyd Typewriters at 146 Exchange Street; seller of Underwood typewriters
Ira H. Joy at 152 Exchange, job printing
The Penobscot Exchange Hotel is in the right foreground.
There appears to be another rickshaw type vehicle on the same side of the street.
