Description

This view of Union Station shows its relationship to the water and the commercial neighborhood in which it was located. The architect, Henry B. Fletcher of the Boston & Maine Railroad, designed a building that was 194 feet long and 82 feet 8 inches wide. The building was constructed of French buff brick with a brownstone base and trimmings. The tower soared to 119 feet with a finial adding another 11 feet for a tower height of 130 feet.
