Photographs, drawings, and war-time pamphlets compiled by First Lieutenant Annis G. Thompson, Historical Officer for Dow Field / Dow Air Force Base, in Bangor, Maine, from 1943 to 1944 for the 43rd Bombardment Group.

Photographs reveal far-ranging movements and locations for the 43rd. Many close-ups of airplane nose art are included. Drawings appear to be primarily by the very talented W. Clark Gamble, which include his rendition of the Battle of the Bismarck Sea.

Bangor Public Library added this scrapbook to our collection in 1948. We are not certain when the scrapbook was completed. Photographs with dates included are primarily from 1943 and 1944.
