Bernard Striar. Private First Class, U.S. Army. 350th Infantry Regiment, 88th Division.

23 December 1921 - 29 September 1944.

A 1939 graduate of Bangor High School, he was killed in action in heavy fighting. Monte Battaglia, Italy (27 Sept - 30 Oct.). His Unit outnumbered 4 to 1 and surrounded on three sides, held its ground against more than twenty attacks. The 350th suffered 1420 casualties. PFC Striar was one who made this sacrifice. Purple Heart.
