Congressional Medal of Honor, posthumously, for his indomitable defense of his Flying Fortress against twenty enemy fighters at the price of his life, over Buka, Bougainville, Solomon Islands. Musician. Aviation enthusiast. Native of Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Trained: Denver, Colorado and Langley Field, Virginia. Bangor resident, six months, while at Dow Field.
