In peace a yacht seaman who rescued perilously the victims of a Florida hurricane. In war a Sergeant, who, though it killed him, with another destroyed the enemy gun that caught his platoon in a cross Fire near Oran, Algeria. His son, Thomas, he never saw. Presidential Citation. Purple Heart.
