Description
The Scene of the Brady Shoot out, October 12, 1937. The Brady Gang, Al Brady, Clarence Lee Shaffer, and James Dalhover, came to Bangor on October 5, 1937,in flight from Indiana. They bought weapons and ammunition, and attempted to buy an automatic weapon from Dakin's Sporting Goods. The people at Dakin's recognized the gangsters, and alerted law enforcement. The episode culminated on Central street, in front of Dakin's Sporting Goods. Al Brady was killed, Clarence Lee Shaffer was killed, and James Dalhover was apprehended and later sent to the electric chair.
