Air Medal. Pilot of a Thunderbolt Fighter. Killed in action near Colmar, Alsace, France, supporting the 7th Army in the Belfort Gap area. Bangor High School, 1939. Eagle Scout. Football and lacrosse varsity letterman at Phillips Exeter Academy, where he graduated, 1942. Cornell University class of 1946. Beta Theta Pi.
