Description
Edward L. Getchell was mustered in on May 28th, 1861 to the 2nd Maine Infantry, Company H. He was promoted to Captain of Company H July 15 1862. He was mustered out with the regiment June of 1863. He later joined the 31st Maine Infantry on April 9, 1864 as Captain, commanding Company H. He was wounded on June 3. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on October 21, 1864. He was mustered out with the regiment on July15, 1865.
