Combat service included Pearl Harbor; African Campaign; Salerno, Anzio, Naples, Cassino, Volturno River, and Rome, Italy; and Lyons, France, where he was killed in action. His division athletic Field at Laupheim, Germany, is named in his honor. Purple Heart.
