Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism, resulting in his death by enemy machine gunfire, in supervising the tank and infantry attack at Munda, New Georgia. Athlete, outdoorsman, Scout. Graduated, John Bapst High School, 1934. Assistant manager Park Theatre. National Guard member, 1934 until induction of unit, 1941. Purple Heart.
